Makers

Every product page here names the maker who made the thing on it. This page is the way in from the other side: 16 makers, a line each, and a link to everything that maker has in the shop.

Little Ones General Store stocks 67 products from 25 independent makers. Most makers with more than one product have a page of their own here. The others each have a single product, and it sits in a category collection.

Clothing

Fabric content and fit sit on each product page, which matters more than a size chart when you are buying a size ahead.

  • Gladfolk. The Heart Hands tee comes in a kids' and an adult version in organic cotton. The 52 piece wooden alphabet set is the other thing stocked here, and both are made in the USA.
  • Polished Prints. Chain stitch has to be run by hand on a machine somebody operates, which is why it turns up on small runs like these women's tees. Ethically made in Bangladesh, in cotton and organic cotton.
  • Sweet Claire. Three graphic tees in 100 percent cotton: one cropped, one oversized, one mineral wash.
  • Wildflower + Cotton. Two pieces made in the USA. The My Rolls Are Homemade bodysuit is the one people buy as a shower gift, and the stars pinwheel bow clip is about 4.3 inches wide and sits flat enough for fine hair.

Decor, parties and photographs

The garlands and the ornaments go back in a box and come out again the next year.

  • Cami Monet. Pennant flags that exist for a photograph, about 10 by 5 inches on a wooden dowel, with the space for the grade or the year left blank. Made by hand in the USA.
  • Global Goods Partners. Felt garlands, felt planters and a knit triceratops, handmade and fairly traded by artisan groups in Nepal. The birthday garland runs 48 inches, so measure the wall first.
  • Melange Collection. Knitted ornaments and soft toys. Because they are soft, they survive eleven months in a storage box better than glass does.
  • Tree by Kerri Lee. Mason jar night lights in unicorn, narwhal and dinosaur, each one handmade in the USA, plus a wooden bear milestone set that stays in use for a year of photographs.

Books and paper

  • Everyday Yeah Publishing. Maybe I'll Be An Engineer and Maybe I'll Be An Architect, two softcover picture books by Tenille Bettenhausen, made in the USA and sold in English or Spanish.
  • Inklings Paperie. Paper goods a child uses up instead of keeping: scratch off lunchbox notes, secret decoder notes, paint with water Valentines kits and gold heart mini pencils.
  • Paige Tate & Co. Three of Alli Koch's How To Draw titles, Under the Sea, All the Animals and Magical Things, each project broken into numbered steps.

Hair accessories and hair care

Nothing here needs a size, which makes it the easiest group to buy a small gift from.

  • Modern Piggy. Seven pieces, handmade in the USA: tulle headbands that seal confetti between layers of mesh, snap clips, and hair tie packs. Sizes are cut for children, though the clips and ties do not care.
  • T is for Tame. Children's hair care made in the USA. The taming cream holds 3.38 fl oz and the wand holds .51 fl oz.

Toys and play

  • Commiskids. Play dough kits built around a meal, dim sum or pasta, not around a box of generic cutters. Both are made in the USA.
  • Living Refinery. A magnetic alphabet set, a magnetic number set, and the Fanny and Alexander wooden tool set. A child uses the magnets to spell before they can write and to build long after.
  • TWEE made for little hands. Sidewalk chalk cast as unicorn horns and bunnies, handmade in the USA. Each horn stands 3.5 inches tall.
