This bat stands 8 inches tall, hand knitted in gray with purple wings and two small white fangs under a stitched smile, and it is a toy and not a decoration. That is what lets it stay in the bed after the end of October.
The wings are worked in two colors, purple across the face of the wing and gray along the top edge, and they are knitted flat, without the stuffing that fills the body. The nose is a single purple triangle and the eyes are black stitches.
Melange Collection knits it in Peru, handmade and fairly traded, with a 100 percent cotton outside and an acrylic filling. Hand wash and air dry, which is more forgiving than the spot clean ornaments the same maker sends.
